About the programme
You should choose Energy Engineering if you want to develop and drive technological developments within sustainable energy. The programme gives you the opportunity to work with renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and biomass 每 but also with new technologies such as Power-to-X, carbon capture and hybrid energy production. You will learn to use advanced simulation tools and mathematical methods to analyse and optimise energy systems, and you can specialise in an area that matches your interests and career goals.
In addition to applying for a full Master's programme you can also apply as a guest/exchange student.

New Master*s options
We expect that as of 2028 you will be able to take this Master's degree programme as a 2-year programme (full-time study, 120 ECTS credits) and as a 3-year Master's for working professionals (first year full-time and then two years of part-time study in combination with relevant employment)
Programme structure
In the Master*s programme in Energy Engineering, you can choose between six specialisations. You can view semester overviews and explore the academic content on the individual specialisation pages.
No matter which specialisation you choose, you and your study group will have the opportunity to work in depth with topics you are curious about. In your project work, you also have the possibility to collaborate with companies.
During the third semester of the Master*s programme, you can choose to do a company internship (project-based placement) either in Denmark or abroad. You may also choose to spend a semester at another Danish or international university.
As a student in Energy Engineering, you will have access to a range of laboratories at AAU Energy, which are used for both research and study projects.
