About the programme
The Master's is for those who want to shape the green and biological transition. You will gain the tools to design and manage the production of biomass-based products, from biogas to pharmaceutical compounds. You will have many opportunities to test your own ideas and theories in collaboration with both your fellow students and companies, and you will gain experience working with biological processes 每 both on a macroscopic and a molecular level.

New Master*s options
We expect that as of 2028 you will be able to take this Master's degree programme as a 2-year programme (full-time study, 120 ECTS credits) and as a 3-year Master's for working professionals (first year full-time and then two years of part-time study in combination with relevant employment)
Programme structure
Studying MSc in Bioengineering, you will get skills and competences in Bioenergy, Biotechnology and Bioprocesses. You can choose to profile yourself towards molecular biotechnology and learn to manipulate the genes in microorganisms to produce natural or bio-synthetic compounds of interest as pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, electrolytes in batteries or many other applications of need in society. You can also profile yourself towards fermentation processes and the engineering of the complex biorefinery operations that transfer the compounds from a ※good idea in the lab§ into use in society 每 where it makes an actual difference.
Semester overview
Study abroad
At the 3rd semester you have the opportunity to study a semester at another university in Denmark or another country. Aalborg University has?contacts at other universities, which may be of help to you, if you wish to study a semester at another university.
